TPO – Mr. Le Anh Dung, Deputy Director General in charge of Payment Department of the State Bank said: ”Vietnam Card Day 2022 is a series of events and communication activities associated with the policy of promoting non-cash payment of the Government and the State Bank. The event will build a bridge and motivate Vietnamese young people, particularly Generation Z, who are tech-savvy with a dynamic digital lifestyle and high personalisation desires, to comprehend and understand new payment technologies.
“Through the program, the Organizing Committee hopes to create a bridge for young consumers to access and experience contemporary ways of payment and new technologies. At the same time, it is also a place to help commercial banks and payment intermediaries approach and introduce modern banking and financial services to young customers. Also from here, young people approach and find their own creative ways, energize and contribute to the overall development of the country’s economy.” said journalist Le Xuan Son, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong newspaper, during the press conference.

As a co-organizer, Mr. Nguyen Quang Hung – Chairman of NAPAS said: Following the increasing momentum of the previous two years, payment activity through NAPAS’s network climbed by 89% in terms of transactions and 123% in value in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the first quarter of 2021. In the first quarter of 2022, cash withdrawal transactions by ATM decreased (-9.6%) in quantity and (-8.8%) in transaction value as compared to the same period in 2021. This demonstrates a major change in payment trends toward electronic ways of replacing cash.

The 2nd Vietnam Card Day helps to the implementation of the Government’s Project on Non-Cash Payment Development in the period 2021-2025. NAPAS will launch payment solutions and services for young people in collaboration with banks and technology partners. The Organizing Committee, in particular, has provided 10,000 presents for young people attending the program to personally experience innovative modes of payment such as: payment by VietQR; contactless card at the Wave Festival event.”
The 2nd Card Day with the highlight event is FESTIVAL Wave (Bach Khoa Stadium – Hanoi from April 16-17, 2022) with the participation of more than 20 financial institutions and banks as sponsors. sponsor; and more than 100 businesses are booth partners in the fields of technology, education, fashion, and food for young people.
At the press conference, the Organizing Committee announced that the amount of 200 million dong extracted from the event’s budget would be donated to a school in need. Previously, the first Vietnam Card Day (2020) donated 100 million VND and many gifts from participating units to Lien Thuy – Le Thuy – Quang Binh Inter-Secondary School to repair 20 rooms. study, adding bookshelves to the school library.
